Children & Families

Children are warmly welcomed and loved here at Emmanuel

We believe that each child can have a vibrant and real relationship with God and can live lives of joy and service in Jesus.

SUNDAY MORNING

Where do I bring my child on a Sunday morning? All children start with their families in the main service. During the first part of the service one of our ministers will pray for the children and then invite them downstairs for Sunday School.

What can my child expect on a Sunday morning? Sunday mornings look different for each of the age groups. Babies (birth to 2 years of age) are nurtured and loved in the safe atmosphere of the Emmanuel nursery. All children are invited to participate in times of playing and singing, while the older children will spend time exploring God’s word through story, songs, arts & crafts, and play.

Your child’s safety comes first. We take your child’s safety very seriously. All of our volunteers are required to submit a background check as well as references. We have a policy of “team teaching” in our Sunday School, meaning that a team of two teachers always leads children. All volunteers receive training on Safety Guidelines for Childcare at Emmanuel from Safechurch.com, as well as receiving ongoing feedback and support from our children’s ministry team.

We also have a compiled a list of allergies and medical information about each child. If your child is new to Emmanuel Sunday School, we ask that you fill out a registration form so that we can have their updated contact and medical information.

Interested In Volunteering?

Each year we offer training through safechurch.com for all of our new and returning Sunday School teachers. In addition, volunteers are offered weekly support in meetings before class on Sunday mornings as well as being placed with someone experienced in teaching Sunday School.

There are many places to serve on our Children’s Ministry Team whether you can join our regular teaching rotation or help out with special events.

Our requirements for teachers are that they love children and are committed to growing in Christ. All volunteers must fill out an application and undergo a background check. If you are interested in being equipped to join a teaching team on Sunday mornings, please reach out to our Children and Family Director, Amy Clow, or email the church office.
