Emmanuel would be lost without our gifted & selfless volunteers that give of their time to ensure that services, ministries, and events run smoothly.
We would love for you to join one of our teams!
There are many ways to volunteer at Emmanuel, each offering opportunities to connect, to serve, and to share. To get involved fill out the form below, fill out a connect card at church, or contact our church office here. Once you’ve contacted us, someone will be in touch with you to get you started on a team!
The ushering team is a great opportunity for new volunteers who love to make people feel welcome. It requires no special skills while providing a strong sense of family within the family, a chance to greet those coming into the services, meet others while serving on teams, and a regularly scheduled, easy-to-manage routine.
Coffee hour is offered after every service on Sundays and is a great time for those in our church to gather and catch up. Coffee hour volunteers are vital to making this happen! Volunteers help make coffee, set up & clean up the area, and greet others. You are welcome to serve as an individual, a family, or a Bible study group in this way.
Every second Sunday of the month is a potluck Sunday. On these Sundays, after the service, our church family shares in a community-wide meal together with food prepared by various volunteers. These volunteers cook for us before and during the service, set up tables and chairs, and serve the food buffet-style to the congregation.
Scripture is read aloud at each Sunday service and is a great opportunity for the congregation to listen to God’s word. Readers can be grade 4 and up.
During each Sunday service, individuals that are chosen to be intercessors take time to pray on behalf of the congregation to our heavenly Father. Families are welcome to volunteer for this together. Intercessors are also available at the back of the sanctuary during the end of the service to pray with anyone from the congregation.
The Integration Team is a group which seeks to befriend newcomers and build them into the fabric of the church. Members often meet with recent visitors throughout the week for coffee, host social events, and connect people with others. This team is perfect for people who genuinely enjoy meeting new people and are energized by social gatherings.
Our children and youth ministries are made possible by capable volunteers. Generally this means being available on a rotating basis to serve with the children for their program downstairs. We have recently implemented a new Sunday morning curriculum soon for our kids, so now would be a great time to get involved!
The Sanctuary Guild is a group who meets on communion Sundays to set up, set out, and clean up the communion vessels. They are a “behind the scenes” group that enjoys their time together while preparing His table. They also may meet periodically to discuss the aesthetics of worship and ways to beautify the sanctuary space.
Are you a musician, do you love to sing, or are you passionate about worship? We seek to incorporate excellent music of all genres into worship that engages both the heart and the mind. Worship is an integral part of what God has called us to be as His church as we seek to be a people caught up more and more in the beauty of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Every third Saturday of the month, a group of women from the church prepare a meal, eat, talk, pray, and fellowship with current residents of the residential recovery program at the BMWC. The BMWC is an absolutely transformative ministry, and many of our volunteers report being so encouraged and blessed by their time there. Please note: this is an opportunity that is only available to women.
Every fourth Wednesday of the month from 6:45pm to 8:00pm, a group of volunteers (along with our brothers and sisters from our sister parish of Christ Church NYC) help out with a worship and pray service for the homeless men and women at the NYCRM at 90 Lafayette St. Come ready to sing, pray, and share in fellowship with our brothers and sisters there!
There are other teams that could also use your help! If you are interested in any, please contact the church office here.
